Vaccine Safety Social Listening Expert

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Vaccine safety Social Listening Expert will lead efforts to monitor, identify, and assess public perceptions, misinformation trends, and emerging issues related to vaccines. The officer will analyze real-time conversations across digital and social media platforms to generate actionable insights that strengthen vaccine-related misinformation management and communication, work towards building community trust, and enhance public engagement. This role bridges analytics and public health communication, enabling partners and authorities to make informed, timely decisions, counter misinformation effectively, and foster public confidence in vaccination efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and operationalize a social listening framework tailored to the organization’s communication goals and target audiences.

• Use specialized tools customized to organizations in context to monitor, collect, and analyze conversations across digital platforms including Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, blogs, and forums.

• Identify and classify emerging rumors, misinformation patterns, and sentiment shifts that may affect reputation, engagement, or stakeholder trust on vaccines.

• Collaborate with communications teams to develop data-driven recommendations for message design and audience engagement.

• Produce periodic insight reports summarizing trends, risks, and actionable recommendations for leadership and communication teams.

• Provide rapid insights during crises or trending issues, ensuring timely vaccine safety communication responses.

• Undertake any additional responsibilities, tasks, or activities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and experiences

• Bachelor’s degree or above in social sciences, communication, or related fields 

• 1-3 years of experience in applying social media and monitoring tools for analysis and reporting.

• Certificates or specialized short courses in digital analytics, media monitoring, or data visualization.

• Strong ability to interpret large data sets and translate findings into clear, strategic communication insights.

• Excellent English writing and communication skills and additional local language proficiency is a must. 

• Sound understanding of data ethics, privacy, and responsible digital monitoring practices.
