Job Location: Somali (Bokh wereda ,Duhun wereda,and Moyale wereda) and Tigray (Axum town)

Number required:- 4 (Four)

Contract Duration: One year, with possibility of renewal based on performance

As a Gender Lead implementing organization for the MYRP II program, FAWE Ethiopia promotes gender-sensitive programming in crisis-affected regions

Position Overview

FAWE Ethiopia seeks qualified and motivated Project Officers to support the implementation of the MYRP II Program in the following areas:

For Somali region (Bokh Woreda Doolo Zone, Duhun Woreda Nogob Zone – (with additional responsibilities in Moyale Woreda Dawa Zone) and Moyale Woreda (Dawa Zone)

For Tigray region (Adwa, Tahetay Michew, Chila, Erob, and Shire Endesilase Woredas)

The Project Officers will oversee the effective planning, coordination, and execution of program activities within their assigned woredas. A strong emphasis will be placed on mainstreaming gender equality, women's empowerment, and protection principles throughout all stages of the project cycle. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design and implement gender-sensitive strategies aligned with program objectives

• Coordinate gender analysis, safety audits, GBV-related assessments, and school-level monitoring

• Deliver gender training and capacity building for stakeholders and community groups

• Support school-based interventions (e.g., Gender’ Clubs, Tuseme Model, gender-responsive pedagogy)

• Monitor and report on progress related to gender outcomes, including education access, retention, and SRH awareness

• Engage with government, CSOs, and community leaders on gender policy advocacy

• Represent FAWE in regional protection, education, and PSHEA clusters

• Contribute to gender research, learning, and documentation

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Education, or related fields (master’s preferred)

• Minimum 5 years of experience in gender programming, women’s empowerment, or related fields in Ethiopia

• Mandatory familiarity with regional contexts, including cultural, linguistic, and institutional dynamics

• Strong communication and facilitation skills; ability to produce clear reports

• Strong proficiency in spoken and written English and Amharic is a mandatory requirement.

• Willingness to travel extensively in the assigned region
