The Junior Accountant is responsible for providing accounting and administrative support to ensure the effective, efficient, and accurate financial management of the organization. The role involves recording daily financial transactions, maintaining up-to-date ledgers, supporting the preparation of reports, and ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
1. Financial Transaction Recording
Record and post daily financial transactions into the accounting system in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain and update cash books, journals, and ledgers.
Ensure all financial transactions are supported by proper documentation and approvals.
Assist in preparing and processing payment vouchers, receipts, and journal entries.
2. Cash and Bank Management
Support daily cash management and assist with bank reconciliations.
Ensure accurate recording of all bank transactions.
Prepare and process petty cash payments in line with organizational policy.
Assist in maintaining adequate cash flow to meet operational requirements.
3. Financial Reporting Support
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Support the Senior Accountant in preparing schedules for audits and financial reviews.
4. Compliance and Documentation
Ensure all accounting records are properly filed and archived for audit and compliance purposes.
Adhere to the organization’s financial policies, procedures, and donor regulations.
Support the Finance team in ensuring timely and accurate statutory payments (taxes, pension, etc.).
5. Administrative and Support Functions
Provide administrative support to finance and program teams as required.
Support internal control implementation by ensuring all transactions meet policy standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within an NGO or donor-funded project.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and standards (GAAP/IFRS).
Familiarity with accounting software QuickBooks is an advantage.

Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
