Role summary

Own day-to-day accounting, payroll, and tax compliance. You’ll keep books accurate and current, run monthly payroll, file taxes through the Ethiopian revenue systems, and support cash handling and secretariat/admin tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • General accounting: Record daily transactions, manage AP/AR, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and monthly close; prepare management accounts (P&L, BS, cash flow).

  • Payroll: Prepare monthly payroll, statutory deductions, payslips, reconciliations, and year-end payroll reporting.

  • Tax & compliance (Ethiopia): Prepare and file VAT, WHT, TOT, excise (if any) and other returns via the Ministry of Revenue/e-filing systems; manage tax calendars, handle queries/audits.

  • Cashier duties: Petty-cash custody, cash counts, replenishment, vouchers, and daily cash reports.

  • Secretariat services: Minute-taking, document control, letters, filing, office coordination for finance/admin.

  • Internal control: Implement approvals, segregation of duties, document trails; support external audits.

  • Operations partner: Work with delivery ops to cost routes, reconcile COD/collection sheets, and improve working-capital cycles.

Job Requirements

  • BA/BSc in Accounting/Finance (CPA/ACCA a plus).

  • 2+ years in private-sector delivery/logistics or related businesses.

  • Proven payroll experience.

  • Hands-on with Ethiopian tax rules and e-filing via Ministry of Revenue/ERA systems.

  • Strong Excel; experience with Peachtree preferred.

  • Integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
