Job Description
The Chief – Stakeholder Engagement is a senior leadership role responsible for designing, leading, and executing EthSwitch’s stakeholder engagement strategy at national and regional levels. The role is central to building strategic partnerships with government agencies, regulators, NGOs, banks, microfinance institutions, fintechs, and regional partners to drive the adoption of EthSwitch’s shared payment services. By championing initiatives such as instant payments (IPS), QR, RTP, bulk payments, mandate management, and PISP integration, the Chief will address perception gaps and reposition EthSwitch as a comprehensive digital payments’ provider. The role combines strategic advocacy, partnership development, and stakeholder alignment to advance Ethiopia’s digital financial ecosystem and strengthen EthSwitch’s market leadership.
The Chief – Stakeholder Engagement shall:
Strategic Engagement – Develop and implement comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategies that promote EthSwitch’s platforms and align with national financial inclusion and digital transformation goals;
Advocacy & Awareness – Lead campaigns, workshops, and high-level forums to create awareness, strengthen trust, and expand adoption of EthSwitch’s services across financial and non-financial sectors;
Government & Regulatory Relations – Build and sustain relationships with regulators, ministries, and agencies to support enabling policies, regulatory reforms, and government-to-person (G2P) initiatives;
Partnerships with NGOs & Development Partners – Collaborate with NGOs, donors, and development partners to integrate EthSwitch’s solutions into financial inclusion, social protection, and digital literacy programs;
Financial Sector Engagement – Drive adoption among banks, MFIs, PSPs, and fintechs by coordinating pilots, capacity building, and service rollout support, while gathering continuous feedback;
Communication & Representation – Serve as the primary spokesperson for EthSwitch to stakeholders, ensuring clear, consistent messaging and effective communication of EthSwitch’s value proposition;
Adoption & Performance Monitoring – Track adoption rates, transaction growth, and barriers to uptake, and provide strategic recommendations for improving service penetration and market relevance;
Leadership & People Management – Lead and develop the stakeholder engagement team, foster cross-departmental collaboration, optimize resource utilization, and report progress to the CEO and Board; and
Strategic oversight-Ensuring Go-to-Market aligns with the company-wide stakeholder strategy.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, or related field;
Master’s degree (MBA or related field) is strongly preferred;
Professional training in stakeholder management, public relations, or project management is an added advantage
Experience:
Minimum 12 years of progressive professional experience, with 7–10 years directly relevant to stakeholder engagement across government, NGOs, private sector, and financial institutions;
Minimum 5 years in senior leadership or director-level role, managing teams and cross-functional initiatives;
Proven track record in strategic stakeholder management, policy advocacy, market adoption programs, and building long-term partnerships;
Strong knowledge of Ethiopia’s financial ecosystem and regional payment trends;
Demonstrated ability to engage with C-level executives, ministers, regulators, and international partners.
