Job Description
Ethiopian Catholic Church Social and Development Commission Branch Office of Meki (ECC-SDCBOM) is a faith based Non-Governmental Organization engaged in Social Development activities in the Vicariate of Meki. As a consortium partner, ECC-SDCBOM has planned to implement a five-year program entitled Realizing Aspirations of Youth in Ethiopia Through Employment (RAYEE II) funded by Master Card Foundation and lead by SNV in selected Woredas of Arsi, West Arsi, East Showa Zones of Oromia Region and in selected woredas of Silte, Alaba and East Gurage Zones Mareko Liyu woreda of Central Ethiopia Region. ECC-SDCBOM would like to recruit personnel on the following key positions for RAYEE II.
Position Summary: Senior Agribusiness-Livestock Officer will lead the implementation of livestock sector and agribusiness development activities, with a strong focus on practical facilitation, market linkages, and enterprise growth. The role involves supporting market system interventions in poultry, dairy, shoat, and related value chains, mapping and coaching Rural Women led MSEs, and strengthening partnerships with local private sector actors, cooperatives, and unions.
Facilitate market and value chain interventions: Lead the operationalization of livestock value chain and market system activities at the cluster level, ensuring interventions are tailored to the local context and effectively address constraints identified through earlier market analyses.
Support youth enterprise growth interventions: Map existing youth-led MSEs in livestock and agribusiness and design strategies to enable them to grow, diversify, and employ more young women. Support capacity building of youth groups and enterprises on business skills, value addition, and market requirements to enhance their competitiveness.
Strengthen partnerships and systemic change: Work closely with local private sector players (aggregators, processors, traders), cooperatives, and unions to identify and develop mutually beneficial business relationships with youth entrepreneurs.
Capacity building & technical support: Provide tailored coaching, mentoring, and hands-on support to cluster technical teams and local stakeholders on livestock market systems, youth enterprise growth, and business development.
Monitoring, documentation & learning: Regularly track implementation progress of livestock and agribusiness activities in the cluster, ensuring they align with approved work plans and contribute to employment and income targets. Support documentation of lessons learned, case stories, and innovations from the cluster and share with the national technical team

Required Qualification and Work Experience
MSc/MA/BA/BSc in Livestock Development, Animal Science Agribusiness, Agricultural Marketing/Economics and related fields
At least, 8 years’ relevant experience for MSc/MA or 10 years for BA/ BSc in tracking in livestock/agricultural value chain development and agribusiness, with demonstrated success in direct field-level implementation.
Required Skill and Competencies:
Strong market analysis and business planning skills.
Ability to develop crop-based economic opportunities.
Knowledge of Livestock production policies, trade regulations, and market trends.
Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, financial modeling tools like Excel, GIS mapping for crop production areas).
Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) skills for tracking crop business impact.
Stakeholder coordination with government, private sector, and farmer cooperatives.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel frequently to project implementation areas
Strong commitment to field-based work, with energy and resilience to match
Effective communication skills in both English and local language
Experience working with NGOs is preferable.
