Motorcycle Delivery Driver

Designation: Motorcycle Delivery Driver

Reports to: Logistics Officer / Administration Manager

The Motorcycle Delivery Driver will be responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of documents, medical samples, medications, and other essential items between the hospital and various external locations (e.g., clinics, laboratories, suppliers, patient homes). This role requires adherence to traffic laws, careful handling of sensitive items, and excellent navigation skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Delivery & Collection:

  • Safely and promptly pick up and deliver documents, medical samples (e.g., blood, urine), medications, supplies, and other designated items as instructed.

  • Ensure proper handling and temperature control for sensitive medical samples or pharmaceuticals during transit, adhering to relevant protocols.

  • Obtain necessary signatures or confirmations for all deliveries and collections, maintaining accurate records.

• Vehicle Maintenance:

  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the motorcycle to ensure it is in good working condition.

  • Report any mechanical issues, damages, or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor.

  • Ensure the motorcycle is kept clean and fueled.

  • Adhere to all traffic laws and road safety regulations, driving responsibly and defensively.

• Route Optimization & Communication:

  • Plan efficient delivery routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.

  • Communicate effectively with the logistics/dispatch team regarding delivery status, delays, or any issues encountered.

  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with hospital staff, external partners, and the public.

• Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.

  • Ensure all required delivery paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Valid motorcycle driving license appropriate for Ethiopia, with a clean driving record.

• Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience as a professional motorcycle delivery driver, preferably in a fast-paced environment or for a medical/logistics company.

• Good knowledge of Addis Ababa's road network and surrounding areas.

• Ability to read and follow directions, including maps and GPS.

• Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.

• Basic mechanical knowledge of motorcycles to handle minor issues is a plus.

• Ability to lift and carry packages of varying weights.

• Good communication skills in Amharic. English proficiency is a plus
