Radiation Therapist
Designation: Radiation Therapist
Reports to: Head of Oncology/Radiotherapy Department

The Radiation Therapist will be responsible for administering radiation treatment to cancer patients, precisely following treatment plans prescribed by Radiation Oncologists. This role involves operating sophisticated radiotherapy equipment, ensuring patient safety, and providing compassionate support to patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Clinical Duties:
Accurately position patients for radiation treatment and operate linear accelerators and other radiotherapy equipment.
Deliver prescribed radiation doses precisely, ensuring accurate field placement and treatment delivery.
Monitor patients during treatment for adverse reactions and provide immediate assistance.
Perform daily quality assurance checks on treatment machines to ensure accuracy and safety.
Provide patient education regarding their treatment schedule, potential side effects, and self-care.
Maintain patient records, including daily treatment logs and patient observations.
Administrative Duties:
Collaborate closely with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and Dosimetrists to ensure accurate treatment planning and delivery.
Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and guidelines for staff and patients.
Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Educational Duties:
Explain the treatment process to patients in a clear and reassuring manner.
Stay updated with advancements in radiation therapy techniques and technologies.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Radiation Therapy or Medical Radiologic Technology.
Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.
Minimum of 2 years experience.
Proficiency in operating various radiation therapy machines and treatment planning systems.
Strong understanding of radiation physics and patient anatomy.
Excellent communication skills, empathy, and attention to detail
