The Cardiologist will specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the heart and blood vessels. This role involves managing a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, conducting diagnostic tests, and collaborating with other specialists to provide comprehensive cardiac care.
Clinical Duties:
Evaluate patients with cardiovascular symptoms, including chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, and hypertension.
Diagnose and manage various heart conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and valvular heart disease.
Perform and interpret diagnostic tests including ECG, echocardiograms, stress tests, and Holter monitoring.
Develop individualized treatment plans, including medication management, lifestyle modifications, and recommendations for interventional procedures or surgery.
Provide preventative cardiology services and risk factor modification counseling.
Manage acute cardiac emergencies.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient cardiovascular records.
Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, internal medicine specialists, and other healthcare professionals for multidisciplinary care.
Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives related to cardiac care.
Educational Duties:
Educate patients and their families on heart health, disease management, and lifestyle changes.
Mentor junior medical staff and students in cardiology principles.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in cardiovascular medicine and technology.
Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
Specialization in Cardiology.
Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-specialization experience as a Cardiologist.
Strong diagnostic skills and clinical judgment in complex cardiac cases.
Proficiency in non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures.
