The General Medical Practitioner (GP) will provide primary medical care to patients of all ages, serving as the first point of contact for a wide range of health concerns. This role involves diagnosing common illnesses, managing chronic conditions, providing preventative care, and referring patients to specialists when necessary, with a focus on holistic family care.
Clinical Duties:
Conduct comprehensive medical consultations, including history taking, physical examinations, and basic diagnostic assessments.
Diagnose and treat common acute and chronic medical conditions.
Order and interpret basic laboratory tests and imaging studies.
Provide preventative care, including immunizations, health screenings, and lifestyle counseling.
Manage chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and asthma, providing long-term follow-up.
Refer patients to specialists for complex or specialized medical conditions.
Perform minor procedures (e.g., wound dressing, suturing, simple excisions) as per scope of practice.
Participate in on-call rotations as required.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient medical records.
Coordinate care with other healthcare providers and allied health professionals.
Adhere to hospital policies and national healthcare guidelines.
Educational Duties:
Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and management.
Engage in continuous professional development to update medical knowledge and skills.
Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-internship experience as a General Medical Practitioner in a clinical setting.
Broad medical knowledge across various specialties.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and diagnostic skills
