Buusaa Gonofaa Micro finance (BG MFI) is a non-bank profit making financial institution licensed under Proclamation No 40/1996 and is supervised by the National Bank of Ethiopia. Currently BG want to fill the Branch Accountant vacant position with a suitable candidate. 

The Branch Accountant is responsible to input data to computer, classifies, and records numerical data to keep financial records complete. He/she performs any combination of routine data entry, calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. He/she should also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other employees. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Reads source documents such as canceled checks, sales reports, or bills, and enters data in specific data fields or onto computers, using keyboards or scanners; 

• Compiles, sorts and verifies the accuracy of data before it is entered; 

• Compares data with source documents, or re-enters data in verification format to detect errors; 

• Checks figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes. 

• Classifies, records, and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers. 

• Debits, credits, and totals accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software. 

• Operates calculators and copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents. 

• Receives, records, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers. 

• Ensures the protection of information against unauthorized access;

• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Branch Manager

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification and Experience:

• Level of education: BA Degree in Accounting or related field.

• Experience: 3 years of relevant experience.

 VI. Skill and Competence required:

• Well organized and ability to act in a professional and ethical manner.

• Good skills in the use of computers.

• Communication and presentation skills.

• Knowledge of arithmetic, analytical and logical reasoning.

• Willing to work, even under stress and out of usual work timings.
