About Geneva Global Ethiopia (GGE)

Geneva Global Ethiopia (GGE) is an international non-governmental organization registered under the Agency of Civil Society Organization with certificate No 1724. GGE has been working in the education sector since 2011 G.C particularly on accelerated education program and EiE. Currently GGE is seeking candidates for a Zonal EiE & CP Project Coordinator role for an upcoming emergency response program for IDPs and host communities in Ethiopia with specific emergency-affected target woredas and schools of Oromia and Amhara regions.   

Job Overview:

GGE is planning to implement a Multi-Sectoral Education in Emergency support to conflict-affected school children in West Gojjam zone of Amhara region. GGE is currently seeking a highly motivated zonal project coordinator for   Education in Emergency and child protection (EiE & CP) programs to have overall responsibility for program coordination, designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating for education in emergency and child protection activities in emergency contexts, ensuring compliance with humanitarian standards. This includes assessing needs, coordinating with partners, building capacity, and providing technical support to field staff as well as reporting agreed activities.

Under supervision of the Regional Project Manager at GGE regional office, she/he is expected to coordinate and facilitate, provide technical support for staffs and stakeholders in respective Woredas and zone of the region regarding the implementation of program activities including Accelerated Education Program/AEP, Accelerated School Readiness 

/ASR and Home-Based Instruction/HBI, child protection, and gender and disability inclusion issues so that to ensure better learning outcomes through timely implementation, monitoring and evaluation, as well as reporting of agreed activities as to the standard.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Program Planning and Development:

  • Support, facilitate and conduct situational analysis and needs assessments to identify gaps in Accelerated education and child protection services. 

  • Developing, adapting, and implementing child protection strategies, plans, and guidelines, including referral pathways and case management systems. 

  • Participating in the development of project proposals and budgets 

Implementation and Monitoring:

  • Overseeing the implementation of Education in Emergency and child protection programs in emergency settings, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices. 

  • Monitoring and evaluating project results, identifying areas for improvement, and making necessary adjustments. 

  • Ensuring accountability mechanisms are in place to address feedback from stakeholders and improve program quality. 

Capacity Building and Technical Support:

  • Identifying capacity-building needs for field staff and providing technical support, coaching, mentoring. 

  • Developing/adopting training materials and resources to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff. 

  • Ensuring that all staff and partners understand and uphold child protection and Accelerated Education Program principles and standards. 

Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Collaborating with government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and implementation of child protection and education services. 

  • Representing the organization in relevant coordination meetings and forums. 

  • Maintaining open communication and building relationships with partners and communities. 

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data related to education in emergencies and child protection, ensuring data is gender/sex disaggregated. 

  • Give technical support and coordination role for woreda level staff, collect and compile reports 

  • Preparing regular reports and updates on the situation and progress of education child protection interventions and submitted to the regional team

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Education:

  • B.A/ Advanced degree in social work, education, public health, or a related field. 

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of significant experience in education in emergencies, child protection and/or humanitarian response.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of coordination and communication skills for, education in emergencies, child protection standards, reporting 

Other Skills:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal coordination, and leadership skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and in challenging environments and represent organizations at a higher level

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in English and the relevant local language(s).
