Job Description
Immediate Supervisor: Finance Manager
Reports to: Finance Manager
Plans, directs and supervises the activities of the division. Signs payment instruments etc. checks and approves financial reports prepared by various units. Follows-up timely repayments of debts. Prepares the Department’s budget.
Plans, directs and supervises the activities of the division.
Approves payment instruments, reminders, payrolls etc.
Counter-signs checks, request for disbursement and other payment authorization instruments in accordance with established procedures.
Approves payment requests for travel advance and follows-up the clearance of same;
Approves withdrawal of cash for suspense account up to specified amount.
Supervises the preparation of various financial reports;.
Reviews, consolidates and submits to supervisors the various financial reports prepared by the Department.
Ensures that the Institution’s accounts with banks are properly reconciled on time.
Supervises the preparation of annual financial reports of the Institution.
Analyzes financial reports and submits finding to the Finance manager.
Ensures that the general ledger positions of branches and sub-branches are properly consolidated with the Head Office on time.
Counter sign journal vouchers.
Gives working guide lines and directives to subordinates.
Reviews schedules of accounts prepared monthly/annually.
Follows-up and arranges for payment of the Institution’s debts;
Keeps record on subordinates on a regular and systematic basis for purpose of performance evaluation etc.
Keeps liaison with branch offices regarding accounting matters;
Works closely with concerned Department, Services and Branches.
Answers quires of external and internal auditors.
Participates in meetings, seminars, studies, etc. when assigned or delegated by the CEO;
Prepares the Annual Budget of the division;
Holds periodic staff meetings at division level.
Assists in reviewing financial guidelines and formats and suggests possible improvements.
Prepares and submits the progress and activity reports of the Department.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Finance Manager;
Qualification and experience Requirement
1. Education: MA/ B.A degree in Accounting and finance field of study.
2. Experience: a total of 5 years of experience.
3. Technical and Other Skills
Ability to provide communicate effectively, and promote a team approach to enhance staff commitment to successfully implement the Organization’s Strategic Plan;
Demonstrated technical and managerial ability, sound judgment, ability to interact and work effectively with all employees;
Ability to adopt new accounting policy and practice;
Ability to work with diversity of employees;
Basic computer skills; peactree accounting, spreadsheet and other Accounting software;
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
